There’s nothing better than treating yourself to a dinner out every now and then. Although it’s delicious to indulge in a tasty meal at your favorite restaurant, some meals just aren’t worth sacrificing your gut health over.

Try your best to stick to protein-packed and fresh ingredients while steering clear from fried food options. In fact, there’s an unhealthy meal you shouldn’t order at a restaurant because it actually halts your metabolism.

Fried foods like chicken fingers and french fries may be tempting, but getting in the habit of ordering it every time you eat out is bad for you.

Simply put, fried foods have much higher fat content and calories than their non-fried counterparts, a Healthline article by registered dietitian Kayla McDonell explains.

“Fried foods are often cooked in processed vegetable or seed oils. When heated, these oils can form trans fats, which are associated with a number of health problems, including an increased risk of several diseases,” McDonell says. Yikes!

As you can see, fried foods aren’t good for your metabolism and overall gut health.

According to WebMD, frequent consumption of fatty greasy foods changes how your body breaks down food and nutrients over time. You may even start to experience insulin resistance, which has been linked to both obesity and diabetes.

So, the next time you enjoy a dinner from a restaurant, we recommend choosing healthier meals with lean proteins or vegetables and staying far away from the fried food options.
