Using generic charging cords
"We all know that no Apple product is cheap, which is why many of us will often choose the generic version of Apple products," Burton Kelso, The Technology Expert tells us. "Well, you need to stop!" he warns.
Why? "Although generic cords look like the real thing on the outside, they are not built the same on the inside. The cheap parts used on these cords can lead to overcharging over your battery which is the biggest enemy to your battery. Overcharging can lead to a bulging battery which can break your iPhone or worse an exploding battery. Next time you're shopping for an iPhone replacement cord, opt for the real deal ... not some cheap replacement." Noted!
Playing Games
"Most of the modern games on iPhones are compute intensive and utilizes almost all of the important resources such as performance intensive CPUs and GPUs on the phone in order to deliver the best user experience and performance that it could deliver to you," Somdip Dey, Embedded AI scientist and mobile platform researcher at the University of Essex explains. "The issue is that when a graphics intensive games are being played on the phone, apart from draining the battery in the background continuously, the operating temperature of the iPhone also increases over time due to no presence of active cooling mechanism."
For this reason, playing graphics intensive games on your iPhone hamper both the battery charging capacity, as well as the lifespan of the device, Somdip explains.
And this is back by science. "Research has shown that a rise in operating temperature of the device by 10 to 15 degree Celcius could reduce the lifespan of the device by 2 times."
You might notice that your device gets hot to the touch when this happens. "The device usually reaches 20 to 25 degree Celcius while playing a very graphics intensive game," he explains.
So, what if you can't quit your gaming habit? Just plan to replace your devices more often, Somdip explains.
