It’s no secret that we all like snacking while watching our favorite shows and movies before bedtime. However, those sweet and salty snacks tend to throw your healthy diet right off track, especially when you’re trying to lose weight.

We understand it can definitely be hard to resist the temptations, but saying no to your go-to treats will be worth it once you’re able to see the weight loss results you’ve been waiting for. To make the whole fitness journey easier for you, we’ve turned to the experts for the best nighttime hacks for weight loss.

There’s one particular tip you should follow this week for instant weight loss that experts really swear by. Without further ado, let’s dive into our favorite weight loss hack.

Our go-to tip is brushing your teeth after your last meal of the day-- yes, really. Think about it-- wouldn’t you be less likely to reach for snacks when you’ve already done your nighttime routine and have minty fresh teeth? Admit it, the answer is yes

In an interview with Shape, registered dietitian Dawn Jackson Blatner highly recommends reaching for the toothbrush and toothpaste after your last meal of the day. Brushing your teeth after having a meal or snack is “a physical and a psychological signal to your body that you’re done eating,” Blatner says.

Let’s face it, those yummy snacks won’t taste as good after brushing your teeth. Avoiding snacks at nighttime is key for successful weight loss because you’re more likely to overindulge and choose unhealthy snacks after dinner and into the night.

According to Healthline, people who eat at night tend to eat more and consume extra calories, which can eventually lead to weight gain if you have too many calories every single night thanks to unnecessary snacking.
