Starting your morning with a Starbucks run can be a great way to give yourself a boost of energy. Plus, coffee can help speed up your metabolism and help you burn more fat.

According to Healthline, “By raising blood levels of epinephrine (adrenaline), caffeine promotes the release of fatty acids from fat tissue.” The article continues, “Caffeine increases your resting metabolic rate, which means it increases the number of calories you burn at rest.”

Unfortunately, not every coffee order at Starbucks benefits your metabolism–some even do the opposite.

Cinnamon Roll Frappuccino Blended Coffee

According to Insider, this is the unhealthiest drink you could order at Starbucks. In a grande size, this drink order packs in 510 calories. Since the average woman needs to eat around 2,000 calories per day, having this 500 calorie breakfast drink will account for a quarter of your recommended daily calorie intake.

Plus, this drink contains 85 grams of sugar, which is way over the recommended daily sugar intake. According to the American Heart Association, women should limit how much sugar they're consuming to 25 grams per day.

Although you might be able to indulge in these high sugar and high calorie drinks on occasion, it's important to keep them in moderation.

Healthline explains, "Frequently consuming sugar-sweetened beverages may slow down your metabolism. In a 12-week controlled study, overweight and obese people who consumed 25% of their calories as fructose-sweetened beverages on a weight-maintaining diet experienced a significant drop in metabolic rate."

With that in mind, if your coffee order is full of calories and sugar, like the Cinnamon Roll Frappuccino Blended Coffee, it's important to recognize how it might be impacting your diet for the rest of your day.

Consuming so many empty calories in the morning in a beverage will not fill you up, but leave you feeling hungry throughout the morning. Plus, sugar can be addictive, so you might find yourself reaching for other unhealthy sugar fixes during the day.

Instead, try sticking to the non-flavored menu options, like lattes and cappuccinos, to avoid any sugary syrups. This will keep the calories and sugar in check, and shouldn't add to any sugar cravings, overall making it a much healthier decision.
