Green tea is well known for its health benefits, and it can even support weight loss.
According to Dr. Josh Axe, D.N.M., C.N.S., D.C., founder of Ancient Nutrition and DrAxe.com, "Green tea's been shown to be a natural fat burning beverage, in part due to its caffeine. Sipping on a cup of matcha green tea is not only soothing; drinking it regularly may help to reduce body fat and lower cholesterol levels."
It can also help support your exercise routine. "Plus, it helps your body repair more quickly after high-intensity workouts," he adds.
According to Healthline, several studies have supported that green tea extract may promote weight loss.
The article explains: "One study had 14 people take a capsule containing a mixture of caffeine, EGCG from green tea and guarana extract before each meal. It then examined the effect on calorie burning. It found that the participants burned 179 more calories, on average, in the following 24 hours."
Plus, "Another study showed that 10 healthy men burned 4% more calories during the 24 hours after consuming a green tea extract capsule containing 50 mg of caffeine and 90 mg of EGCG."
Green tea has antioxidant benefits as well, Dr. Axe explains.
