False eyelashes are a gift to beauty lovers — one that, in a few minutes' time, can do more to open up eyes and make us look alert and radiant than a full eight hours of sleep. Learning how to properly apply faux lashes requires practice, but once you've finally mastered the skill, it can take five minutes or less to get your glam on before walking out the door in the morning.

But removing false lashes? Well, that's going to take a bit of patience and a few good tips.

Fake Lashes

Here's the one thing you should never do when removing false lashes — the one false lash sin nearly all of us have committed at one time or another — no matter how impatient you feel, never peel strip lashes off in a flash just to speed up the process.

Fake Lashes

Pulling and tugging at false eyelashes can weaken your natural lashes and, over time, may even contribute to premature sagging in the eye area.

A better approach to removing false lashes safely is to apply a water-based eye makeup remover to a large cotton pad and hold it over your lash. The makeup remover will loosen your lash from the lash glue until it easily slides off without pulling. Remove any remaining residue on your eyelid by dipping a Q-Tip into an oil-based eye makeup remover or coconut oil and gently gliding it over the dried glue.
