A healthy diet is a huge component of weight loss, and many people turn to veggies to lose weight. However, not all vegetables are great for weight loss–especially if they are loaded up with toppings or fried in oil.
Keep reading for the one vegetable you shouldn’t cook with if you are trying to lose weight!
Potatoes
Potatoes are a versatile vegetable that can be a great addition to many meals--and they are not unhealthy on their own. Unfortunately, the way most people eat potatoes tends to take away their nutritional value.
Adding sour cream, cheese, and bacon to potatoes is common--and so is frying them up for french fries. With that in mind, the potato is typically not the healthiest vegetable.
However, if you're not ready to give potatoes up altogether, there are some healthier ways to serve them up.
Women's Health explains, "To keep your healthy potatoes ranking low on the calorie front, try serving them boiled or roasted in a salad or mixed-veggie dish, or baked with nutrient-packed toppings like spices, Greek yogurt, salsa, or beans."
It is important, however, to stay away from unhealthy toppings and cooking options. Otherwise, this weight-loss friendly vegetable could add up to something entirely different.
With that in mind, eliminating this vegetable from your diet--or experimenting with healthier ways of eating it--might be a step in the right direction for a more health-conscious lifestyle.
