When it comes to losing weight, every little thing matters. This is especially the case with your diet. It’s necessary to fine-tune your diet to ensure that your body is getting all of the nutrients and minerals it needs to burn calories effectively. Need help determining whether or not your diet filled with the right fat-burning vitamins and nutrients? Experts say that most people are lacking vitamin D!

"One vitamin that may surprise many people is a fat burner is vitamin D," Monica Mizzi, editor-in-chief of wellness website WellMe, tells us.

When it comes to those with belly fat, researchers say that there is a correlation between obesity and vitamin D levels. Men's Health notes that research has found that people with "adequate vitamin D levels" are more likely tended to lose more weight than those with low levels.

It turns out that vitamin D deficiencies aren't that uncommon. MindBodyGreen.com notes that it's actually something of a phenomenon; they reported that there are estimates that say that two-thirds of the population in the United States is vitamin D deficient!

"Vitamin D deficiency is one of the most commonly unrecognized medical conditions," says Michael F. Holick, M.D., Ph.D., a professor of medicine at Boston University medical center and author of The Vitamin D Solution. "And that deficiency negatively affects every cell in your body—including your fat cells."

But before you go and overload on vitamin D, it's important to stress that taking too much of anything isn’t a good idea. In fact, too much vitamin D can upset the calcium levels in your body and affect how certain heart and blood pressure medicines work. Always consult with your doctor before starting a new supplement or vitamin.

Not interested in taking a vitamin D supplement? You can get a daily dose of this important anti-inflammatory vitamin naturally by sitting out in the sun. Or, you can make tiny tweaks to your diet to make sure that you're getting enough vitamin D from the foods and drinks you're having.
