In the wake of Jeffrey Epstein’s death last summer, more information is surfacing about his relationship with Prince Andrew. Epstein was in prison awaiting his trial for sex trafficking and conspiracy to engage in sex trafficking. Prince Andrew, son to Queen Elizabeth and uncle to Prince William and Harry, had close ties with Epstein and is currently not cooperating with U.S. investigators.
Prince Andrew and Epstein met in 1999. Since that meeting, their paths crossed on multiple occasions. They’ve vacationed together and Prince Andrew was a regular visitor to Epstein’s New York home. Epstein ran into legal trouble in 2006. He was charged with soliciting prostitution from a minor and served 13 months in prison. You think that with a conviction like that, Prince Andrew would cut ties with Epstein. However, the prince went as far as staying at Epstein’s mansion during a visit to the U.S. shortly after Epstein’s release.
In August of 2019, legal documents related to Epstein’s case were unsealed. The documents contain allegations that Epstein directed then-17-year-old Virginia Giuffre into sexual encounters with Prince Andrew. He vehemently denies the allegations.
By November of 2019, Prince Andrew stepped back from royal duties for the foreseeable future. After a three-month hiatus, Prince Andrew was seen with ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, recently for a charity event. He still denies any allegations of sexual misconduct with minors. In an interview with the BBC, Prince Andrew defended his friendship with Epstein post-prison for sex crimes by saying it was “the honorable and right thing to do.”
Despite all the growing evidence against him, Buckingham Palace denies any wrongdoing by the prince. U.S. prosecutors have said that Prince Andrew has not been cooperating investigation. As more news unfolds on Prince Andrews’s involvement with the Epstein case, the Queen may not be able to defend her son much longer.
