Mariah Carey is finally opening up about her divorce from Nick Cannon, and the reason behind their split is definitely unexpected.

Carey also thinks that their relationship became tense when they had their twins, Moroccan and Monroe, as the pressures of parenthood and their individual careers became difficult to balance.
She explained, "Along with double the joy came double the responsibility. It was a lot of work and a lot of having to be home and available. Making the necessary adjustments to being working parents in entertainment took its toll on our relationship."
For a little background, Mariah and Nick's relationship started in 2008 and weeks later they were married. They officially divorced in 2016 later when their children were only five.
Explaining the trajectory of their relationship, the singer continued, "And the end of our marriage came fast, as it began. Even though we had prenuptials in place, the divorce took two years to become final and costs hundreds of thousands of dollars in legal fees."
In retrospect, however, Carey thinks that they might have been able to work it out.
The 50-year-old explained in the book: "Honestly, I think Nick and I have worked it out between the two of us, but egos and emotions got inflamed."
However, now that their relationship is settled as co-parents, they are able to get along better.
Carey wrote, “We will always be family and we make it work. We still have fun, reminisce and joke. And we are both certain that Roc and Roe are indeed our light. Every day they give us new life."
