We may have just sworn in a new President but that hasn’t stopped certain celebs from preparing their platform for another four years. Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson recently revealed that he would potentially be interested in running for office and will be keeping “[his] ear to the ground” to see if people would support him.

The former WWE wrestler turned actor shared with USA Today that he holds a genuine interest in entering politics, but will only do so if the general public feel it’s appropriate. “I would consider a presidential run in the future if that’s what the people wanted,” he said. “Truly I mean that, and I’m not flippant in any way with my answer.”

Johnson showed his public support for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris in the 2020 election, and it seems like he may want to join them as this is not the first time his name has been thrown into the political ring. In 2017, after GQ titled an article, “Dwayne Johnson for President!” he told Rolling Stone, “I think it’s also a function of being very unsatisfied with [then-President Donald Trump]. But this is a skill set that requires years and years of experience. On a local level, on a state level and then on a national level.” While he may have been hesitant back then, evidently that mindset has changed!

‘The Rock’ recently had a new show air on NBC based off of his fictional future life titled “Young Rock” which incidentally begins in the year 2032 where he launches his platform for the presidency. As for what it would take to make his future in the show a reality? “I would wait, and I would listen. I would have my finger on the pulse, my ear to the ground,” said Johnson.

Johnson is a registered Independent, and if the success of his show is any indication of his future in politics, he may just follow through and run in four years! We’ll see what the people have to say, and will be keeping our ear to the ground as well.
