Starting your day off with a well-balanced breakfast is an ideal way to begin your morning especially when you’re on a diet. It’s always key to start your daily meals on the right foot and breakfast provides the perfect opportunity to do just that.

When you think of your favorite healthy breakfasts you probably think of lots of protein and fresh fruit– and you’ve got the right idea. However, when you focus on preparing a fresh breakfast for successful weight loss, have you ever given much thought to the time of day you’re scarfing down those fresh eggs?

The time you eat breakfast in the morning is in fact just as important as what you’re eating for your first meal of the day. According to experts, you should try to make it a priority to eat breakfast before 10 a.m. every day and we’ll tell you why.

In an interview with Forbes, dietitian Kim Larson says the best time to have breakfast is within two hours of waking up in the morning. “The sooner you eat breakfast after you wake up, the better it is for your metabolism,” Larson says.

Completely skipping or missing breakfast is even worse for your health, Larson further explains.

“Missing your morning meal confuses your hunger hormones, setting you up to overeat later on in the day. A lot of people feel ravenous before bedtime just because they haven’t eaten enough earlier in the day and their body is trying to make up for it,” Larson tells Forbes.

Women’s Health highlights a study that explains the best time to try to wake up and eat breakfast in the morning for the sake of preventing weight gain. Women’s Health reports that a 2015 Obesity study revealed consuming a high-protein breakfast between 6:00 a.m. and 9:45 a.m. was linked to a reduced risk of body fat gain and less hunger throughout the day.

Now, let’s turn our attention to the best protein-packed foods you should focus on eating when preparing your daily breakfasts. Some delicious breakfast foods that contain lots of protein include eggs, turkey bacon, greek yogurt, and many more. The possibilities are truly endless!
