Now that people are starting to feel comfortable enough to do grocery store runs, versus delivery orders only, you’ve probably noticed that the line outside Trader Joe‘s is getting longer and longer. Drive by on a Saturday and forget about it–the line is through the parking lot.

But what if we told you that people are using secret social media spies to find out when there is no line? Here’s everything you need to know about this genius–and somewhat sneaky–TJ’s hack:

The Wall Street Journal noticed that people are using to Twitter sleuths to discover when there are short or no wait times at the popular grocery store. Here's how it works:

There are dedicated accounts to reporting on the line, such as Trader Joes Line Alert. This account was started by a Brooklyn Heights resident to let people know how long the line currently is at the Court Street store. Their account bio states: "Heading to the TJ’s at 130 Court St Brooklyn? Hit me up and I’ll let you know how long the line is. Not a bot, just a quarantined human." Wow--there are still good human beings in this world.

The founder of the account, Jacob Shwirtz, told News 12 that, “I literally go to my window, check out the line, and reply back to them, usually pretty quickly," and his alerts are color-coded–red, yellow, and green–depending on the length of the line. So simple and yet so effective!

Additionally, EV TJs and Target Line will let you know how long the lines are at Trader Joe’s and Targets on 14th Street and Avenue A. Nice, a two-for-one account for updates on my two favorite stores!

But it's not just for NYC residents. A simple search of "No line at Trader Joe's" on Twitter will yield similar Tweets across the country. Fingers crossed there's an update for your location!
