Breakfast is the best time of the day to start your healthy diet off on the right foot. You’ll want to be sure to include lots of fresh whole ingredients in your daily morning meal. Luckily, there are plenty of nutritious breakfast foods that are yummy pantry and fridge staples your taste buds won’t get tired of.
When you think about your usual breakfast you probably think of eggs, a big hot cup of coffee, and lots of fresh fruit. What goes best with tasty fruit you ask? Well, Greek yogurt of course!
Not only is Greek yogurt super delicious when paired with sliced fruit, it also has many amazing health benefits on its own.
Without further ado, let’s dive into the top benefits of eating Greek yogurt in the morning, according to health experts.
We all know that both regular yogurts and Greek yogurts contain probiotics that are overall really good for your gut and how it functions. However, Greek yogurt has a leg up on regular yogurt in some nutritional benefit aspects.
In an interview with INSIDER, registered dietitian Carol Aguirre explained that Greek yogurt contains 17 grams of protein compared to about 9 grams in regular yogurt. This thicker protein-packed yogurt will keep you feeling full and satisfied for much longer periods of time than its counterpart.
In addition to having more protein, Greek yogurt also often contains a lot less sugar and carbohydrates than regular yogurt. Aguirre further explained to INSIDER that a serving of regular yogurt typically contains 12 or more grams of sugar, while Greek only has around 5 to 8 grams of sugar. How amazing is that?!
You’ll be well on your way to a simple yet balanced breakfast when adding Greek yogurt to your weekly shopping list. Trust us, your taste buds and gut will thank you!
