Pretzels
Although pretzels might seem like a healthier snack option, the truth is not so straightforward.
Today explains, "You may think that with only 1 gram of fat per serving, pretzels are a virtuous snack choice. However, pretzels are essentially refined carbohydrates that offer barely any nutritional benefits and an overdose of salt."
Refined carbs are a huge red flag when you are trying to lose weight because they are "empty calories"--lacking nutrients and leading to overeating.
There are other health risks associated with refined carbs.
Healthline explains, "Refined carbs may increase blood triglycerides, blood sugar levels and cause insulin resistance. All of these are major risk factors for heart disease and type 2 diabetes."
With that in mind, staying away from refined carbs--like pretzels--is a good way to stay healthy and speed up weight loss.
