Let’s imagine you need to charge your iPhone fast. You connect it to a charger and wait. And Wait. But you notice the battery percentage is barely moving at all — it’s not that you aren’t charging your phone correctly. it’s that you are missing out on an opportunity to take advantage of an amazing hack that tech experts rely on to speed up their phone’s battery charging. This is the surprising hack that charges your iPhone SO much faster—tech experts love this one.

Set Your Phone to Airplane Mode

You may already be clued into the benefits of your phone’s Airplane Mode feature. This helpful setting disables some actions on your phone, like sending and receiving calls or texts, in an effort to prolong the life of your battery until you can get to a charging source. But tech experts say Airplane Mode is also a stellar feature to turn on when you are actively charging your device, too.

Setting your phone’s Airplane Mode on is a little trick that tech experts have known about for quite some time — with many saying it boosts your device’s charging speed. “Because the phone cannot access any communication protocol (Cellular service or data) it has less use for its battery at this time,” says Edward Eugen, founder and tech and gadget reviewer of 10beasts.com. “This also goes without saying that Bluetooth and Wi-fi must be turned off as well.”

David Levi, founder of Cryptoner, also relies on this hack. “Your phone will charge so much faster when it's put in airplane mode as this setting automatically turns off many features in your phone,” Levi says. “This includes cellular and Wi-Fi networks as well. When there's less for the battery to do, the tendency of the system is to just focus on this certain activity which is charging, making the process faster.”

To enable Airplane Mode, go to Settings and select Airplane Mode. One more tip to really boost your battery charging speed? Close all of the app in the background. “Most people take for granted that their phones are still accessing some apps despite not showing in the home screen,” Eugen says. “This still drains the battery, which makes charging a bit slower.”

Your phone will be up to speed (literally) in a fraction of the time if you follow these simple tips.
