If you're a sucker for the "Chef's Special" when eating out at restaurants, you should probably know that it's one of the worst things you can order. And that's according to both restaurant insiders and medical doctors. Even chefs wouldn't order the chef's special!

They're made with leftovers!
The truth is that the daily special is likely made with leftover ingredients that the chef is trying to get rid of, like aging meat, past-their-prime vegetables and leftover sauces.

1. They can make you very sick
Dr Oz explains that this means there's an increased likelihood that you'll get sick from eating it, ie. food poisoning.
But that's not all (as if you needed more??). There's another reason it's a really bad idea -->
2. They're a total ripoff.
And it turns out that it's also a big ripoff, too. According to restaurant insider Stephen Zagor, founder of consulting firm Hospitality & Culinary Resources, restaurants take pricey cuts of meat, for example, and repurpose them in stews and pastas to disguise the fact that they are expiring--but still charge you top dollar. "Watch out for an expensive item used in a way that's minimizing its flavor says."
