No matter how perfect your body is, there's gotta be one area that you're self-conscious about—that's just how women are. If you have a complex about your broad shoulders, we got you, we know that it can't be easy thinking that you look like The Hulk (even though you totally don't). So if your goal in life is to keep people from staring at those shoulders, you need to be staying away from the tops that scream, "Look at me!" We know, it's tough to face the fact there are just certain things that you can't wear, but you're not alone. Just look at all the tops girls with big boobs have to skip out on. So although we can't tell you that the advice you're about to read is set in stone, we do urge you to listen if you've been struggling with those large shoulders for your entire life.

Off-The-Shoulder

Yes, they happen to be huge this spring, but if you’re not looking to draw attention to your shoulders, you may wanna sit this one out. The main focal point of an off the shoulder top is the shoulder (shocking, I know), therefore you’d be drawing attention to the area you’re trying to conceal. Tip: You can still be on trend with a kimono top, plus their wide sleeves help to soften shoulders. Try Topshop's Floral Fringe Kimono ($105).

Square Neckline

A square neck is gonna do nothing but accentuate the boxiness of your shoulder region, which is likely what bothers you most about those broad shoulders. Tip: Get yourself a dolman top. The slouchy sleeves help to soften a super defined shoulder line. Try the Marc by Marc Jacobs Short Sleeve Dolman Top ($198).

Boat Necks

This style, or any top with a super wide neck, has a tendency to widen the neck and shoulder area, so if you feel like you already look broad up there, skip the boat necks. Tip: Invest in a blouse with a v-neck—the deeper the better. Not only will it elongate your neck and torso (if it's deep enough), but it'll also bring the eye inwards, diverting the focus away from the shoulder region. Try the DKNY Oversized V-Neck Pullover ($195).

Puffed Sleeves

Sure, they’d adorable, but if you have broad shoulders, you should skip any tops that have puffed sleeves—they add weight to your upper bod, which won't exactly be flattering. Tip: Try a top that has diagonal short sleeves—they work wonders at minimizing those shoulders. Try Feel The Piece V-Neck Tee ($79).

Skinny Straps

Delicate and soft as they may be, super thin straps are kind of your enemy—they leave too much space open between you neck and your shoulders, which can make you look wider. Look for tanks that have thicker straps. Tip: Get yourself a halter top; they're wonderful at drawing the eye inward towards and shifting focus away from the shoulders. Try the J.O.A. Halter Top ($58).

Strapless

Sure, strapless tops are a wonderful option when you want to look a little sexy, but they're not the best for everybody. If you're self-conscious about your shoulders, you definitely don't want to be wearing tops that bear your entire upper chest area, it just makes no sense. Tip: Show some skin with an open back top. You've got broad shoulders, which means that you probably also have amazing back muscles, so go on and show them off. Try the Asos Crepe Open Back Top ($45). I get that strapless tops are a great way to show some skin, they're just not the best option for everybody, especially if you've got bigger shoulders. I mean, you're exposing your entire upper chest region, which also means that your shoulders are out and about. This isn't ideal when you're looking to downplay Ladies with broad shoulders sShowing off your upper chest area with a strapless top also means showing off your neck and shoulders. Yes, it's great to show skin at times, but this is not the way to do it. If you're wondering why strapless tops aren't the best choice for chicks with broad shoulders, it's pretty much because of the aAll that bare skin will only draw more attention
