The Ellen DeGeneres Show is quickly coming up on its 17th anniversary since the first episode aired back in September 2003, and boy, how times have changed for the award-winning comedian.

Ellen DeGeneres can’t seem to escape the spotlight for all the wrong reasons. The host of Ellen has been under fire for allegedly creating a “toxic” work environment behind-the-scenes.

Reports accusing DeGeneres of being quite the opposite of her onscreen “Be kind to one another” self  has led people to strongly show either their lasting support or sudden disappointment in the 62-year-old, and some have even taken extreme action to show how they really feel.

DeGeneres’ star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame was recently vandalized after a QAnon rally, The Blast reported. According to sources, passerbys saw purple sharpie graffiti on the Hollywood Walk of Fame star on August 25-- the same star DeGeneres was so excited to be honored with back in 2012. The graffiti has since been cleaned and removed.

Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi

In light of the heavy criticism, DeGeneres’ wife Portia de Rossi has shared her everlasting support for her on Instagram.

De Rossi took to the social media platform to thank the fans who have stood by DeGeneres. “To all our fans….we see you. Thank you for your support. #stopbotattacks #IStandWithEllenDeGeneres,” the 47-year-old captioned her Instagram post, a graphic that simply says “I Stand By Ellen”.

DeGeneres has released a memo to apologize to her staff and to address the workplace complaints.

According to PEOPLE, DeGeneres said that she is glad that the issues were being addressed and that she is taking steps to correct them. The July 30 memo was released just days after it was revealed that the show would undergo an internal investigation by WarnerMedia.

“Hey everybody - it’s Ellen. On day one of our show, I told everyone in our first meeting that The Ellen DeGeneres Show would be a place of happiness - no one would ever raise their voice, and everyone would be treated with respect,” the message read. “Obviously, something changed, and I am disappointed to learn that this has not been the case. And for that, I am sorry. Anyone who knows me knows it’s the opposite of what I believe and what I hoped for our show.”
