Goodbyes are certainly emotional and that still holds true for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle as they adjust to their newfound lifestyle away from the royal family.
The last few moments of royal life dug deep into Meghan’s emotions as she braced herself for her final joint royal engagement with Harry.
According to The Daily Express, ABC’s royal expert Omid Scobie said that Meghan was tearful before attending the Commonwealth Service with Harry. Meghan was at a prior solo engagement before the service where she met with students from the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU).
“Meghan stayed behind after the students left. It was a moment for her to say goodbye to some of the staff that had been so loyal to her for the past year for the last time,” Scobie said. “It was emotional. Meghan was really composed throughout the engagement but this was a moment to be vulnerable amongst familiar faces.”
Scobie further revealed that Meghan wasn’t hesitant to show her true emotions as she wrapped things up at the event. “It was tough, she was tearful,” Scobie said. “There were hugs, to say goodbye.” How heartbreaking is that?!
Meghan and Harry have picked things up once again to move to Los Angeles, California since returning back to Canada after attending their final royal services, sources say.
A source told PEOPLE that Meghan and Harry are in Los Angeles, Meghan’s hometown, and that they have been living in a secluded compound amid the coronavirus pandemic.
A separate source told PEOPLE that Harry is looking forward to his now refreshing life.
“Harry is looking straight ahead at his future with his family,” the source said. “They will be spending time in California...He’s not looking back.”
