By receiving the BET Her Award, Blue Ivy became the youngest award winner in the 20-year history of the BET Awards--a huge achievement!
"Brown Skin Girl" originally appeared in the 2019 soundtrack for The Lion King: The Gift.
As CNN explains, "'Brown Skin Girl' is an anthem of positivity that heralds the natural beauty of Black and brown girls."
The lyrics include, "Brown skin girl / Your skin just like pearls / The best thing in the world / Never trade you for anybody else / Singin' brown skin girl / Your skin just like pearls / The best thing in the world / I never trade you for anybody else, singin."
This is not the first time the song has been awarded.
It was also honored at 2019 BET Soul Train Awards, winning the Ashford & Simpson Songwriter's Award. Blue Ivy, Beyoncé, and Jay-Z are all credited as songwriters for the single.
It also won the award for Outstanding Duo, Group or Collaboration at the 2020 NAACP Image Awards.
The song also landed Blue Ivy on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
According to Us Weekly, "In July, she landed on the Billboard Hot 100 chart for the first time when the song debuted at No. 76."
