It’s a fresh start for Meghan Markle and Prince Harry— in more ways than one.
The couple has officially renamed their charity work under Sussex Royal to MWX Foundation. We like the sound of that!
The name change is in line with Meghan and Harry’s independent lifestyle after they stepped down from their royal duties earlier this year and were ruled not to use the word “royal” in their future work.
The news of the name change comes as paperwork was filed on August 5 confirming that the ‘Sussex Royal The Foundation of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’ is to now be referred to as the MWX Foundation.
According to Daily Mail Online, a previous statement from Buckingham Palace revealed more details behind the process of Meghan and Harry letting go of their Sussex Royal brand and the transition plans for their new life.
“While the Duke and Duchess are focused on plans to establish a new non-profit organisation, given the specific UK government rules surrounding use of the word ‘royal,’ it has been therefore agreed that their non-profit organisation, when it is announced this spring, will not be named Sussex Royal Foundation,” the statement read. “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex do not intend to use ‘Sussex Royal’ in any territory post spring 2020.”
This same statement clarified that Meghan and Harry’s charity work in their post-royal life would focus on ways to support change and complement the efforts of many other global foundations.
The couple has certainly been busy since their departure from the royal family. According to The New York Times, Meghan and Harry recently signed a massive Netflix deal.
“The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have founded a yet-to-be named production company and signed a multiyear deal with Netflix, which will pay them to make documentaries, docu-series, feature films, scripted shows and children’s programming,” NYT reports. How amazing is that?!
