As told by NYC internist and gastroenterologist Dr. Niket Sonpal:
Do not buy the 365 Organic Peanut Butter & Cocoa Balls cereal. This cereal contains seven grams of sugar in each cup.
Women should have no more than 24 grams of sugar daily while men shouldn’t exceed 36 grams of sugar per day. If you have two bowls of this cereal, you are already halfway to your recommended sugar consumption for the day.
If you are following a keto diet, you may want to skip out on this product. Most people following a keto diet consume less than 50 net carbs per day; this product contains 17 net carbs.
There is also not much fiber in this product, and fiber is an important component of breakfast. Fiber supplies the body with energy, allows you to focus better, provides the body with healthy nutrients, and aids digestion. Instead, have greek yogurt or oatmeal for a high fiber breakfast.
The “natural flavors” ingredient is also concerning. Foods with natural flavors are usually higher in calories, and natural flavors are generally manipulated in a lab. This product is nothing more than glorified “Cocoa Puffs” under the guise of a “healthy” cereal.
