Dunkin’ Donuts is a popular coffee stop for a reason, but, depending on what you order, you could be getting more than you bargained for. Dunkin’s menu has some high sugar and high calorie drink options that may surprise you and could definitely put a dent in any weight loss plans.
Keep reading for everything you need to know about Dunkin’s unhealthiest drink–and it’s not that chocolate shake!
Frozen Coffee
Frozen coffee sounds simple enough, which might make you think it's healthy, but that couldn't be farther from the truth.
According to the Daily Meal, these breakfast drinks might as well be dessert with more calories than Dunkin's chocolate shake! Depending on what flavor you decide on, a large Frozen Coffee can have up to 1,160 calories and 181 grams of sugar.
According to the American Heart Association, women should keep their daily sugar intake to 25 grams maximum, meaning this coffee is the equivalent to more than seven times your recommended daily sugar intake.
Too much sugar can mean trouble for weight loss. It can lead to serious health issues as well, including higher blood pressure, inflammation, diabetes, and fatty liver disease, according to Harvard Health.
Even the healthiest version of this Dunkin' Donuts order, a small Frozen Coffee with skim milk and no added flavors, is still 250 calories and 56 grams of sugar.
With that in mind, no matter how many "healthy" changes you make to this order, it should still be considered an indulgence.
With that in mind, if you do not want your Dunkin' order to set back your weight loss goals, it's a smart idea to avoid Frozen Coffee--or, at the very least, make sure to avoid any flavored syrups like Butter Pecan Swirl or French Vanilla Swirl.
Instead, stick to a simpler coffee order like iced coffee, which is only 5 calories with 0 grams of sugar.
