It’s unanimous: workers at Burger King agree that you shouldn’t order a Whopper Jr.–the less, popular, smaller version of their bestselling Whopper sandwich–when you visit the fast food chain. In sum, it’s because you’re eating essentially the same food and ingredients, but the mini version is less popular and in turn, less likely to be made fresh. Whopper vs. Whopper Jr.

You only save $2 on the smaller sandwich, and since you’re already eating pretty unhealthfully–what does the different of a few hundred calories really make? The Whopper Jr. still has an alarmingly high salt (390mg), fat (18g) and carbohydrate (27g) content.

And, here’s the kicker, it’s harder to the Whopper Jr. so it’s less likely to be fresh when you eat it.

"Never never never buy the Whopper Jr. Not enough people buy them so they just sit out and go bad," one Redditor claiming to be a former Burger King worker warned on an AMA thread.

"They take too long to make fresh, and managers get a bonus check when they have a low enough time, so they just tell the workers to use the super old ones that have gone nasty," they continued. Yikes!

Another user, an employee of a Canadian outpost of the chain agreed: "The less popular products might not be fresh off the grill or frier. I wouldn't order them unless you specify 'fresh' ones." Good tip!
