According to a study commission by QSR magazine (“quick-service restaurants,”) Burger King has the slowest drive-through of all the fast food restaurants–and the most order errors!

In the study on speed, results showed that it takes 201.33 seconds–or 3 minutes and 20 seconds–on average for a customer to get through a Burger King drive-through. Generally, fast food drive times are preferred to be an average of less than a minute!

Additionally, the restaurant makes the most mistakes of those orders. 17% of the time that you place an order with Burger King, it will come wrong. WTF! (Now, granted this study is from 2012--and hopefully the restaurant has taken some steps to improve it).

So, what do employees say is the one thing you should never do when ordering through the drive-thru at Burger King?

In an AMA Reddit thread, a user claiming to be a general manager at Burger King shed some light on the issue.

When asked, "When is the best time to order from drive thru, to insure the food is freshest? Busy time or slow time?" user @b1ndm4n replied:

"Well at my store it would be both because when we are busy we are always cooking more food and when we slow down we cook it fresh just so the customer always gets nice hot food :) (nnot [sic] all stores will do this because of the "drive times" they want to meet but I like hot food so they get hot fresh food all the time)."

In short, if you want fresh food, don't order it at slow times.

Why? It goes back to drive times. Fast food restaurants try to keep those drive times (the measurement for how long it takes a person to go through the drive-thru experience start to finish) down. When the restaurant is slow, they might be inclined not to cook new food to customers in order to keep drive times down. (Reversely, when they're busy, they're making new food constantly so you're guaranteed fresh food.)

So--there you have it! The worst mistake you can make when ordering at the Burger King’s drive-thru, according to an employee.
