Chances are you’re making a few extremely common mistakes on your iPhone. The problem? These mistakes can add up to a seriously diminished battery. And when that happens, your phone will be more sluggish, more difficult to charge, and it won’t last you as long. Your iPhone is an expensive investment and protecting it and prolonging its life is as easy as avoiding some of these common errors. This tech mistake is zapping your iPhone’s battery, according to experts — and we’ve included a few more mistakes that should be on your radar, as well.
Using an Incorrect ChargerSo you found a seriously cheap charger on Amazon and you’re considering buying that for $10 and calling it a day. Hold that thought. Using an incorrect charger on your iPhone may save you money in the short term, but it can cause major long-term damage to your iPhone.
“You might believe that all chargers are evenly distributed, then as provided as the connection on a cable fits onto your phone, it will function properly,” says Tech Expert Steve Anderson. “Yes, it will charge your phone, but it may not do it as quickly as the charger that originally came with that. Furthermore, an unsuitable charger might shorten the life of your battery or potentially harm your phone’s charging port.”
Play it safe by always using an Apple charger or Apple-certified charger to power up your iPhone.
Cleaning Background Apps by HandDo you frequently shut all background apps on your phone to boost their effectiveness? According to Anderson, not only is that not essential, but it may potentially cause huge problems. “It’s easy to imagine that having many apps running in the background while not using them would cause your smartphone to slow down,” Anderson says.
