"I’d really love to see my grandchildren. I’ve been told by several lawyers that grandparents have sued to see their grandchildren and won in California but I’m not going to do that," he told GMB hosts Susanna Reid and Richard Madeley. "I don’t want to include my grandchildren in this kind of situation. I want to see my grandchildren with friendly parents and friendship all around." He went on to say that he last tried to contact Meghan a month ago, but never heard back from her. Markle continued to tell the show that he didn’t want to turn up to Harry and Meghan's mansion in Montecito, California, unannounced, because he didn’t want to be branded as a stalker. All he wants to do, he says, is talk!
"This is more than just me and my daughter now. This is me, my daughter, her husband and two babies. So it’s time to do something. To talk," he continued. "My message for the kids is that they have two loving families. It’s important for them to know that they have two families and eventually they’re going to grow up and they’re going to want to know more about them. So we’ll see what happens."
Markle then vowed to continue giving TV interviews about his daughter "until she does speak to me," which we’re not entirely sure is the best plan, before calling Meghan’s refusal to see or even talk to him "childish and silly." Yikes! "I've made it quite clear that, until I hear from her, until she does speak to me, that I will continue to do this. Eventually she'll start talking to me. This is way too childish, this is kind of silly." Finally, when asked why he thought his daughter didn’t want to speak to him, he made some interesting comments, some of which seemed to insinuate that it may have been the Duke of Sussex's influence.
"You're asking me a question that's four years old and I can't answer it," he said, in answer to the question. "I don't know what changed her. She's never been that way before and once she hooked up with Harry she changed. I understand she hooked up with Soho Club and a different group of people, but she has pretty much disowned both sides of her family and I don't understand the reason for it."
Brace yourselves – there's more! "I think Harry has abandoned the Queen, his grandmother, the royal family, the British people and the Army. He's abandoned them all," Markle continued. "All he does now is ride a bicycle around the neighborhood... I don't know if it's much of a life for him either. It doesn't make sense. Harry is coming out with a book and that can't be anything but cruel, and to insult his grandmother... it's a ridiculous idea and it's just something for money. Everything they're doing is for money. To do that to your grandmother, who is 95 years old, is shameful." Let's end things there…
