First Off, What Is The ‘Honey-Blonde’ Color Trend?

One of the most prominent hair trends in 2023 so far is the honey blonde color, or a golden look with subtle caramel undertones. Hadid first rocked this in a December photo collection post for her 58 milllion Instagram followers, and the hue suited her complexion effortlessly.

Regarding the color, Maccaro says that it is popular since it is “flattering” for many skin tones, and that it is “multi-dimensional.” With Hadid, it worked so well because it “highlights her best features.”

“Honey blonde isn’t a ‘one size fits all’ shade, meaning it can be adjusted to complement any skin tone and haircut shape,” she says. Application wise, she adds, “colorists can play with balayage, foilayage, chunky highlights, and root melts.”

A warmer tone is easier to achieve when it comes to hair colors, Maccaro notes, and it often has “more longevity” than cooler ones.

How To Rock It & Other Pro Tips

If your goal is to recreate Hadid’s look or one that you saw on TikTok, one essential piece of advice Maccaro provides is to avoid purple shampoos at all costs. “Limit your use of purple shampoo,” she advises, adding that “purple neutralizes yellow.” By neutralizing the yellow, “you are removing warmth and cooling down the honey tone,” she says.

Ultimately, as Lordet explains, “We are seeing a warm winter trend this season,” which means that it’s safe to expect that the buzzworthy color will live on for spring. Lordet says that “instead of cool tones, more and more are opting for golden honey tones and caramel blonde.”

In order to find which honey blonde shades work well with your facial features and skin tones, consulting your personal stylist is an essential step!
