If you thought fast food companies couldn’t get any greedier when it comes to menu prices, especially at Wendy’s, you’d be wrong. The chain just announced that they’re rolling out “Uber-style surge-pricing” for their menu prices, meaning the price of your meal will change based on the amount of demand for it, and customers are outraged. Keep reading for more information.

Wendy’s Customer Charged $18 For A Combo Meal

TikToker @Jerenewc made a video alerting everyone to Wendy’s future plans, calling the brand out for being greedy. “Wendy’s has officially gone way overboard,” he began the video by saying. “You may pull up in the drive thru and a cheeseburger’s going to cost $5 but by the time you pull up to the actual order menu, it might be $7.50 or $10 depending on the surge pricing.”

“Their cost of good is not surging,” he continued, breaking down why this new pricing tactic is absurd. “It’s staying the same, so if this is not price gouging at it’s finest…”

One customer in the comment section of his video shared that Wendy’s is actually testing the surge-pricing out at her location, and that she paid $19.99 for a combo meal just the other day. That’s nearly $18 for one sandwich, one side item, and one drink. You could probably get that at a sit down restaurant!

Customers Are Outraged At Wendy's 'Surge' Pricing

Other customers filled the comment section with their thoughts on the new combo meal, and spoiler alert: they were not positive thoughts. "Fast food needs to calm down!" one person commented.

"People should boycott all fast food until they lower their prices!" another person commented.

"Nope fast food is not worth it for this price," one customer said.

"Never going to Wendy's again starting today!!!!" shared another customer. "It's just horrid. I won't support a place who does this to their customers."

"Nope," another agreed. "Boycott immediately."

"It's just greed," a final person said. "The extra dollars they're charging per item is going straight into billionaires' pockets."
