Tim McGraw Loses 40lbs By Cutting Out Alcohol & 'Walking Every Day'
While the easy first step for someone who has a net worth of over $200 million might be hiring someone—or a team of someones—to help, McGraw didn't want to take the easy way out. "I didn't start with gym memberships. I didn't start with trainers. I didn't start with any of those things. I started by walking every day," he revealed. "The more I walked, the more I wanted to do and the more I wanted to do bodyweight stuff. So, that gym stuff wasn’t part of my program for a while."
He also made the decision to cut out alcohol, though this isn't a recent occurrence. McGraw has been sober since 2008, after hitting rock bottom in 2008, when he'd find himself heading straight for the liquor cabinet as soon as he woke up. He credits his wife, Faith Hill, for setting him straight. "I think when the kids got old enough that they could notice things is when [Faith] finally said, 'You've got to figure this out.'"
Tim McGraw Reveals The Motivation Behind His Weight Loss
McGraw's family, current and future members, are the motivation behind his weight loss. He's a family man—devoted to his wife, Faith, and his three daughters, Gracie, Maggie, and Audrey. "I want to to be around," he said. "I want to be around to see my grandkids. And I want to be around to see what these kids do with their lives, you know?"
While none of his children are pregnant as of now, they don't have to worry about having a support system, because if his weight loss journey has made anything clear, it's that he's ready to be a grandpa!
