Country music singer and musician Toby Keith revealed in a heartbreaking message to fans that he has been battling stomach cancer since late 2021, is receiving treatment and will hopefully be able to perform live soon. The “Red Solo Cup” hitmaker, 60, opened up about his condition with his 809K Instagram followers in a post last week.
In his statement, Keith wrote, “I’ve spent the last 6 months receiving chemo, radiation and surgery. So far, so good. I need time to breathe, recover and relax,” he explained. “I am looking forward to spending time with my family. But I will see the fans sooner than later. I can’t wait. -T”

Naturally, fans flooded his comment section to share that they are “praying for his recovery” and added thousands of heart emojis and well wishes. In response to this, Keith made another post. He wrote, “Thank you for all your love and support. I have the best fans in the world. – T” Since then, the “How Do You Like Me Now?!” artist has been active on social media, posting tributes to U.S. Army veterans and promoting his new merchandise in time for Fourth of July.
Although Keith was initially supposed to play a set at the Lakefront Music Fest on July 9th in Prior Lake, Minnesota, he had to understandably back out due to his current health battle. Recently, it was announced that legendary southern rock group Alabama is taking over Keith’s slot for the festival.

As much as fans noted on Twitter that they “love this band,” many also revealed that they still “wished they could have somehow seen” Keith live at the event. “Hope to see you live soon, feel better,” wrote one fan. Another added, “take care of yourself, Toby!” and many continue to send supportive messages his way.
