Tofu

There are tons of delicious plant-based proteins out there, but when it comes to meat alternatives that can promote weight loss, Richards says tofu is one of the best ways to go. This soy-based protein is delicious, versatile, and great for you.

One of the best things about tofu is the fact that it's packed with many of the nutrients your body needs to thrive (and shed pounds). "It is high in protein, containing about 10 grams of protein per 100 grams of tofu, and is also low in calories and fat," Richards tells us. "Tofu is also a good source of iron, calcium, and other essential nutrients, making it a healthy addition to any diet." Perfect!

Plus, you can have peace of mind knowing that you're helping the environment when you choose tofu over meat; Richards points out that it's "a more sustainable option than meat, as it requires fewer resources to produce."

But does it really work as a replacement for meat in your favorite dishes? Yes! "One of the great things about tofu is that it is very versatile and can be used in a wide variety of dishes," she assures us. Whether you grill it, bake it, fry it, or sauté it, the possibilities are practically endless. Plus, tofu can take on many different flavors. "This versatility makes it a great meat replacement in dishes such as stir-fries, tacos, sandwiches, and more," Richards says.

So, next time you're stocking up at the grocery store, throw a pack of tofu into your cart. "Overall, tofu is a great plant-based protein for those looking to reduce their meat intake and maintain a healthy and balanced diet," Richards concludes.
