Tom Brady‘s first day as Fox Sports’ lead NFL analyst didn’t get off to the best start on Sunday, September 8th, as fans flocked to social media to criticize him on his broadcasting debut.
The 47-year-old former New England Patriots quarterback signed an epic 10-year $375M deal with Fox, and made his broadcasting debut during the Dallas Cowboys vs. Cleveland Browns game. However, many fans and critics alike didn’t think that he was worth the money…
The seven-time Super Bowl champ‘s new job came with a touch of controversy, as former Carolina Panthers player Greg Olsen was axed in favor of Brady, which many fans weren’t happy with on social media. Olsen, who won a Sports Emmy for Outstanding Personality/Event Analyst, can now be found on Fox’s secondary broadcast team alongside Joe Davis.
“I’ll say Tom Brady is absolutely dog [expletive] and Fox should be ashamed of what they did to Greg Olsen,” slammed one NFL fan on social media. “I’ve heard enough of Tom Brady, justice for Greg Olsen,” wrote a second, as a third said: “Think about this, Tom Brady was hired for a position with zero experience and he replaced a proven guy who worked his way up. Greg Olsen was awesome. The complete opposite of how it supposed to work in America.”
The criticism of the former NFL star continued, as a fourth critic added: “Maybe someone should have listened to Tom Brady actually say words before dropping $300 million on him.” “Fox had the best commentator in a long time in Greg Olsen and just kicked him to the curb for one of the worst commentators we’ve ever seen in Tom Brady. Dirty business,” another Olsen fan added.
