Tom Hanks Tells Fans About His Diabetes Diagnosis In 2013

Fans noticed the A Man Called Otto actor’s hands shaking during the Australian premiere of Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis back in 2022, as he seemed to struggle to hold the microphone still when he was speaking. Many fans voiced their concerns on the internet after watching videos of this moment, but several of them put it down to his Type 2 diabetes diagnosis, which he went public with in 2013.

“Wishing Tom the best of health. Hope He’s ok,” wrote one fan in the comment section of a Daily Mail article. “I hope it’s not Parkinson’s disease,” wrote a second fan, as hand tremors are also commonly associated with the disease.

The same fan added: “While I do not know him personally, he seems like a decent human being with a great sense of humor. Talented actor, writer, and historian as well. I hope he’s with us for a long time.”

“Thought he was diabetic? This isn’t unusual,” noted another fan. “Could just be dehydration or low blood sugar. Hope so!” added another. “He does have diabetes so it’s possible,” echoed another.
