Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott are reportedly choosing to temporarily ignore the rumors that they are separating after 15 years of marriage, and are putting on a united front for the sake of their children this holiday season. However, although they haven’t officially confirmed their relationship status to the press yet, insiders are claiming that the cracks are beginning to show, and the tension between the couple is getting harder to ignore.

Despite McDermott allegedly not living with Spelling and the kids right now, the family of seven still seem to hang out in public together, which is exactly what happened over the weekend. On Saturday, December 4th, the 48-year-old Beverly Hills, 90210 actress and the 55-year-old Due South actor were spotted taking their children – sons Liam Aaron, 14, Finn Davey, 9, and Beau Dean, 4, and daughters Stella Doreen, 13, and Hattie Margaret, 10 – out to dinner at Ruth’s Chris Steak House in Los Angeles. But despite trying to have an amicable relationship for the sake of the children, there is apparently a “great deal of tension” between the couple, which hasn’t gone unnoticed, even though they, according to insiders, “prefer to keep the marriage strong” for their five children.

"They both enjoy being a family and love their lives with the kids, but there is a great deal of tension between them which continues to make them drift further apart," an insider told People. "They have gotten to a point where there are no easy fixes." However, despite the alleged ongoing tension, the source clarified that Spelling and McDermott could spend part of the Christmas holidays together "for the sake of the children."

This will be a big change from Thanksgiving, which Tori spent with just two of her children; her two daughters, Stella and Hattie. She even shared the news with her Instagram followers, writing: "Three empowered females cooking, cheering, and chatting." As per the source, Tori and Dean want to unite for the holidays this year because the children have such a great relationship with their father, and they wouldn’t want to make the festive period hard for them. Makes sense to us!

"The kids love their dad and enjoy being with him," the source said. "Marriages with five children need to have a lot of trust, love and understanding. Without that, little things add up and a big thing could collapse everything."

We're glad to see that, despite some hiccups, Tori and Dean are trying to be amicable for the sake of their children at Christmas. We don’t know how things will play out after the holidays though, but sources think they might make their split a little more official in the new year. "They really are trying to celebrate the holidays as a family and put aside their differences," a source told US Weekly. "Friends think divorce can happen early in the new year." Watch this space!
