Tostitos Avocado Salsa Jar Dip Recalled From Shelves Nationwide
Pre-made jar dips are incredibly popular for serving at summer gatherings, so it's super important to keep track of any recalls ahead of July 4th—and Tostitos' Avocado Salsa Jar Dip just became the latest product to be recalled by parent brand Frito-Lay.
The brand issued a voluntary recall on June 16th of select 15 oz. Tostitos Avocado Salsa Jar Dips that may contain an undeclared milk allergen. This means that those with allergies or severe milk sensitivities run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume the dip.
Affected jars are correctly labeled as Tostitos Avocado Salsa, but the back of the jars are mislabeled with another products nutrition information and declarations, therefore leaving milk off the label—and leaving those with sensitivities none the wiser to the allergen's presence in the product.
The Tostitos Avocado Salsa Dips affected were distributed nationwide at both retail outlets and via e-commerce channels. The recalled jars were available for purchase as early as April 5th, 2023. The specific items recalled were Tostitos Avocado Salsa Dip jars in the 15 oz. side with UPC barcodes ending in 05597, and a best before date of 2 NOV 23 or 3 NOV 23 (located on upper rim of jar).
No other Tostitos products, sizes, flavors, or dip variety packs were affected or recalled. No allergic reactions have been reported due to the mislabeling as of yet, but if customers have milk allergies or sensitivities, it's urged that the dip is not consumed and discarded immediately.
Those with the affected products can contact Frito-Lay Consumer Relations at 1-800-352-4477 (9 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. CST, Monday-Friday).
