Imagine biting into your chicken sandwich only to discover small bits of chicken bone inside. Well, that’s what appears to have happened to some very concerned customers of Trader Joe’s who filed complaints that have ultimately led to the recall of more than 97,000 pounds of chicken burgers sold through the store. Yikes!

The US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service recently announced the chain’s latest recall of frozen Trader Joe’s Chile Lime Chicken Burgers (as well as other chicken products sold elsewhere), after it was brought to their attention by consumers that the burgers may be contaminated with pieces of bone.

The notice states that a food manufacturer in Kent, Washington called Innovative Solutions, Inc. makes the patties (as well as some Spinach Feta Chicken Sliders sold at other retailers), and that “approximately 97,887 pounds of raw ground chicken patty products that may be contaminated with extraneous materials, specifically pieces of bone,” have been yanked from shelves.

“The problem was discovered after the firm received consumer complaints reporting findings of bone in the chicken burger product,” the release states. Can you imagine being the person or persons to make this discovery?!

The products, which were made between August 16th and September 29th should not be eaten, officials say. You can visit the USDA website to learn more. Thankfully, no reports of adverse reactions have been confirmed as of press time. Phew!
