Trader Joe’s is great for so many reasons, but one of the best things about this cult-favorite grocery store is the fact that they’re always adding brand new items to shelves, as well as bringing back seasonal favorites. However, there’s only so much shelf space in a store, which means that the addition of new items has to come with the inevitable loss of old favorites. Unfortunately, the chain recently confirmed that this is the case with their Chocolate Hummus, which has officially been discontinued. Say it ain’t so!
Trader Joe's has discontinued chocolate hummus
If you're not familiar with the beauty that was Trader Joe's Chocolate Hummus, you may be scratching your head right now. Chocolate? Hummus? While it may sound like these two words shouldn't go together, since hummus is typically a savory dip (and a healthy one at that, BTW!), many agreed that this stuff was good. Made with cane sugar and cocoa, it was a sweet treat that paired well with fruit, pretzels, anything else your heart desired. But now it's gone.
While customers have been keeping their eyes peeled for the return of this item for over a year now, The Sun recently reported that they've confirmed with Trader Joe's that it won't be found. In fact, it was officially discontinued last July. It's a sad day for chocolate lovers, indeed.
"Trader Joe’s chocolate hummus being discontinued has become my origin story," one fan lamented on Twitter.
"Trader Joe’s discontinued their chocolate hummus. Truly 30% of my diet eliminated just like that," another wrote last summer.
Although a year has passed, we're sure there's still a chocolate hummus-shaped hole in the hearts of many. The same goes for all of the other discontinued Trader Joe's items that we've had to say goodbye to recently.
But luckily, when one door closes, another opens. There are always plenty of new items to look forward to at TJ's. If you keep your eyes peeled and branch out, you may be lucky enough to find your new favorite snack addiction any day now.
