Trader Joe’s Employees Share Their Favorite Items That Are ‘Actually Worth The Hype’

If you’re a fan of Trader Joe’s, you know that the grocery chain has some delicious and affordable items that are hard to find elsewhere. But have you ever wondered which frozen products their employees love the most?
According to CNBC, Trader Joe’s employees shared their favorite items from the store, and we’ve rounded up three of them that they say are “actually worth the hype.” Contributor Christian Beltran revealed to the outlet that he has been working for the grocer for over a year, and spoke with fellow workers to help rank some items.

As the weather gets warmer, what could be better than enjoying ice cream in the sunshine? These summery frozen treats are $3.79 per box at Trader Joe’s, and employee Beltran said they are “like the ice cream version of thin mints.” And at just under 90 calories a cone, it’s a “guilt-free sweet treat.” According to TJ’s, these cones “feature ice cream studded with rich chocolate chips.”
Want a vegan-friendly meal idea that is not only tasty, but also won’t break the bank? Trader Joe’s offers this $3.79 chicken-less product with an orange sauce that the company says is “sweet, a little spicy, and that perfectly complements the meaty-tasting Morsels.”
Beltran shared that employees say the sauce tastes “similar to the original Mandarin Orange Chicken, which is one of Trader Joe’s most beloved products. And the vegan chicken looks and tastes like McNuggets.”
These waffle fries from Trader Joe’s make the perfect side for summer barbecues, employees say. At just $3.79 per bag, they also aren’t expensive! According to Beltran, they “sell out” at his store all the time and can also make a great “late-night snack, or meal just stuffed in a burrito.”
On its website, the company notes that these “waffle-like potatoes are coated in a flour-based batter, fried in vegetable oil, and, finally, seasoned with a blend of salt, paprika, black pepper, yeast extract, and garlic, onion & chili powders.” Sounds good to us!
