Trader Joe’s has just made a huge announcement about their stores, specifically announcing several store closures as a result of COVID-19.
In a statement, Trader Joe’s explained their decision to close some store locations: “[W]e have temporarily closed some stores related to coronavirus (COVID-19) concerns, including for additional, precautionary cleaning and sanitization. We have made sure all Crew Members at the respective locations have been informed and understand the steps to take to best safeguard their own health and the health of their community.”
To take care of their employees, the grocery chain specified that they will continue to pay all crew members for any scheduled shifts even if there is an unplanned store closure.
The announcement continues, "At Trader Joe’s, there is nothing more important to us than the health and safety of our Crew Members and customers. We believe in being proactive and transparent in addressing issues, and we value information and clear communication.
Recent store closures have been the result of either a crew member testing positive for coronavirus or receiving treatment for a potential case.
Trader Joe's also has a message for concerned customers: "“We are working closely with local health officials to take all necessary measures and provide our communities with the most appropriate information needed to make an informed decision regarding their health and safety. We encourage customers who have health-related concerns to review CDC and local health department guidelines and to contact their healthcare providers with any questions."
As of May 11, it appears that all closed stores have been reopened. However, if you want to find an open location near you, check here.
