Trader Joe’s Is Raising The Price Of More Beloved Items Immediately—Say It Ain’t So!

With the ongoing state of the U.S. economy, it’s no secret that there’s been major price increases for some of your favorite grocery items. As a matter of fact, according to an article published by CNBC, “The consumer price index, a broad measure of everyday goods and services related to the cost of living, soared 9.1% from a year ago, above the 8.8% Dow Jones estimate. That marked the fastest pace for inflation going back to November 1981.”

Obviously, several retailers are affected by this change—including your go-to grocery stores. Trader Joe’s is no exception. As reported by Eat This, Not That!, “A post by the blog Simple Grocery Deals recorded specific price changes for the Hawaiian-themed grocer as of February 2022 to help inform consumers about the rising costs they’re bound to see at the store.” Keep reading to learn more.

Leafy greens such as cabbage, organic shredded kale, and organic caesar salad kits all belong to this category. What were originally $1.99 for cabbage, $3.49 for Organic Shredded Kale, and $4.29 for Organic Caesar Kits are now priced at $2.29, $3.69, and $4.49 respectively. Eat This, Not That! reports, “Though the price changes hover between just 20 to 30 cents, that’s 5 to 15% of the original cost of the product.”

Dairy Items

Prices for milk, butter, and yogurt have also gone up. Now, a gallon of organic milk costs $5.99, unsalted quarters of butter cost $3.49, and organic whole milk yogurt costs $3.69.

Meat

Love all kinds of protein? You may want to start setting a budget for this food in particular. Ground beef patties are now worth $6.49 while a rib eye steak is priced at $18.99 per pound. Originally at $5.69 per pound, ground white turkey kosher is now $5.99 per pound.

Berries

These fruits packed with antioxidants also find themselves part of the price increase. From $2.49, organic wild berries now cost a dollar more. Similarly, blueberries that were initially priced at $1.99 are now worth $2.29.

Waffles

If these are a breakfast staple in your household, you should know that both the multigrain and blueberry waffles rose from $1.99 to $2.29. As for other bakery items, Tandoori Naan now costs $2.99 while organic seeded bread is priced at $3.99.
