Trader Joe's Cashew Recall
According to the FDA, the following Trader Joe's cashews that were sold in the states of Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Kansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Nevada, Oklahoma, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, and Washington after at least one of the recalled lots tested positive for Salmonella: Trader Joe's Nuts — 50% Less Sodium Roasted & Salted Whole Cashews with SKU number 37884 and lot numbers T12139, T12140, T12141, T12142 with best before dates 02/21/25, 03/01/25, 03/08/25, and 03/10/25.
The issue was identified through routine testing by the FDA, which indicated that at least one of the recalled lots tested positive of Salmonella, which gives the rest of them the potential to be contaminated. Customers who have purchased one of the affect products are advised to discard it immediately or return it to any Trader Joe's for a full refund.
According to Fortune, food and beverage recalls are at a 5-year high. "In 2023, 199.7 million food and drink product units were impacted by 506 recall events, according to Sedgwick Brand Protection's 2024 State of the Nation Recall Index report—a five-year high," they wrote in a recent article.
