Trader Joe’s just issued a recall of 653,000 units of the fan-favorite Mango Tangerine Scented Candle. The recall, which was issued voluntarily by Trader Joe’s on June 27th, states that the candles may have “an unexpected burn pattern.” Keep reading to find out exactly which products are included in this recall and what you should do if you’ve purchased them.

Mango Tangerine Candle Recall

Trader Joe's has different candles for every season, like Cedar Balsam during Christmastime, Honey Crisp Apple during the fall, and Peony Blossom in the spring. The returning summer scent, though, is proving to be much more dangerous than its counterparts. The grocery chain issued a recall on June 27th warning customers of it's "unexpected burn pattern."

"The candle flame can spread from the wick to the wax," the website's statement reads, "causing a larger than expected flame, posing a safety risk." Many who leave candles burning for hours at a time will know how large a flame can get if left unattended, and this mistake in production can make that flame even bigger, posing a fire safety risk. The affected candles have an SKU# of 56879, and were sold in Trader Joe's grocery stores across the United States.

What You Should Do If You've Purchased The Affected Product

Customers who have bought the Mango Tangerine Scented Candle for their own use or as a gift to others are urged to cease use and dispose of the candle immediately. Alternatively, customers can return the candle to their local Trader Joe's for a full refund. Receipt of a $4 gift card by mail is also an option for customers who were just visiting a Trader Joe's, and do not have a local store. For any comments or concerns, customers may contact Trader Joe's Customer Relations at (626) 599-3817.
