Donald Trump continues to stand trial for falsifying business records to cover up the $130K in hush money he paid Stormy Daniels to stay quiet about their affair. While it seems as if something new happens every day—gag orders issued, certain former presidents falling asleep, etc.—one thing has remained fairly constant: the absence of Donald Trump’s wife and the former first lady, Melania Trump. And social media users have noticed this too, taking to Twitter to poke fun at the situation. Keep reading for more information.
Melania Is Nowhere To Be Seen During Donald Trump's Hush Money Trial
Back in 2018, Stormy Daniels publicly claimed that Donald Trump's former attorney, Michael Cohen, had paid her $130,000 to keep quiet about their alleged affair, and now, the 77-year-old is on trial for falsifying business records to cover up said payment.
The incident, according to Stormy Daniels, occurred during Melania's pregnancy with her and the former president's son, Barron, in 2006, a decade before Trump's presidency, so it's really not surprising that it's a sore subject between the two. Stormy says they met in Lake Tahoe at a celebrity golf tournament, and he invited her to his hotel suite for dinner, where later, they reportedly had consensual sex.
According to Daniels, Trump actually showed her a photo of Melania, and told Stormy not to worry about her. "Don'y worry about that," he said, according to Daniels. "We don't even sleep in the same room." So really, Melania not showing up to support her husband here is pretty understandable.
Twitter Pokes Fun At Melania's Notable Absence From Donald Trump's Trial
Despite her having a pretty good reason for leaving her husband out to dry on this one, Twitter users couldn't help but poke some fun at the situation. One person even photoshopped her face onto a cartoon of milk with the words, "Have you seen her?"
"No one expects Melania to show up," one user tweeted. "She loathes him almost as much as we do."
"She hates him so much lol," wrote another.
"This many court appearances wasn't in her contract," jokes one user.
"She is not going to show her face there," another person said. "She's already lived through this once why would she want to do it again?"
"I have a gut feeling she won't be showing up for much in the coming months," a final user wrote.
