Donald Trump hosted yet another rally last week, and as with all of his rallies, it didn’t go completely smoothly. At one point, it appears that his teleprompters stopped working, causing Trump to stop his regularly scheduled speech and go off on a tangent about how he wouldn’t pay the contractors who set up the teleprompters. Unsurprisingly, this generated a lot of comments from Twitter users calling him out for attempting to avoid paying. Keep reading for more details.
Donald Trump Complains of Malfunctioning Teleprompters at His Rally
A little bit into the speech, Trump stops his regularly scheduled programming to ask, "Are the teleprompters not working?" and then quickly responded, raising his voice, "Not even a little bit!"
Without taking a beat Trump continued, "And then I don't pay the company that does it, right, and then I end up with the story, 'Trump doesn't pay.' I don't pay the contractors that do a sh***y job, and that's a sh***y job." As his supporters cheered him on, he reiterated, "That's a shitty job. Can't read a word."
However, some Twitter users think that Trump is simply trying to find a way to get out of spending cash, as he happens to owe a lot to different parties as a result of his legal battle, namely E. Jean Carroll, whom he owes over $80M, or the state of New York, which he owes $355M.
Twitter Calls Out Trump For 'Never Paying'
Of course, Twitter users were quick to call out Trump for his money troubles. "He doesn't pay contractors period," one person said, and another agreed: "He doesn't pay and he stiffs."
"Always an excuse to get out of paying for anything," another commented. "No doubt the contractor did the job. He is just.. BROKE!"
"The man who claims he doesn't need teleprompters, complains about his teleprompters," another pointed out.
"To be fair, he generally doesn't pay anybody," another person said. "So, it's par for the course for him."
"Trump the convicted felon doesn't pay anyone!!" a final user said.
