Clips and teasers from Meghan Markle’s upcoming Netflix series, With Love, Meghan, are facing backlash on social media. The show was originally set to drop on January 15th but got pushed to March 4th following the devastating wildfires that tore through parts of Los Angeles.
While the delay seemed understandable given the show’s tribute to the beauty of Southern California (featuring scenes of the Duchess of Sussex, 43, cooking and creating floral arrangements with celeb pals like Mindy Kaling and Suits c0-star Abigail Spencer), a royal commentator now claims the new release date is just as controversial. Meanwhile, social media isn’t holding back, with X (formerly Twitter) users slamming the latest behind-the-scenes clips as “contrived,” “embarrassing,” and straight-up “cringe.”
Royal analyst Richard Fitzgerald informed GB News that he believes that Markle has acted too hastily. “I think it’s rather soon,” he shared. The commentator added, “I do feel that her offering a celebrity friend a piece of sponge might be out of its time.” He went on, “There has been tragedies in California and it’s got caught up in it all […] I do suppose it might be past it’s sell by date.”
On February 26th, the mother of two (who shares son Prince Archie, 5, and daughter Princess Lilibet, 3, took to Instagram to share some behind–the–scenes moments from the show. The clips featured the Suits actress dancing in her kitchen, laughing with the crew, and offered a quick look at her husband Harry, 40, and her late dog, Guy.
