Piers Morgan Comments On Donald Trump's Guilty Verdict
When Trump paid Stormy Daniels $130K back in 2016 to keep their affair from a decade ago a secret so it wouldn't affect the polls, he probably didn't anticipate it affecting polls 8 years later. He's facing some major setbacks in public opinion after being convicted of 34 felony counts. The jury, which deliberated for 9 hours, found that he was guilty of falsifying business records to cover up the $130K he paid Stormy Daniels.
Obviously, Trump himself was displeased with the results of the trial, calling it, "a rigged, disgraceful trial," and adding that "the real verdict is going to be Nov. 5 by the people." And Piers Morgan agreed.
After the results of the trial were made public, he took to Twitter to share his thoughts: "This is a a sad, shameful and ridiculous day for America," he wrote. "To drag a former President, who is running for President again, through criminal courts over something so trivial feels a massive overreach & an incredibly divisive and obviously politically partisan action."
Twitter Drags Piers Morgan For Donald Trump Tweet
Unfortunately, Morgan didn't drum up the response he was hoping for, and instead, Twitter users poked quite a bit of fun. "Are you serious?" one person asked?"
"No, it's a wonderful and happy day for America and the rule of law," another wrote. "No one is above the law and he's the first former president to become a convicted felon."
"...or, he committed a crime, he was rightfully charged, and now he's a convicted felon, based on a jury of his peers, using real evidence, and not MAGA gaslighting," a third person said.
"Why are you even commenting on this?" another asked. "Shouldn't you be worrying about King Charles or something?"
"Bloody hogwash innit?" another joked, making fun of the British journalist.
"I'm so happy that this ridiculous response from someone who isn't even American can't bring me down," a final person added.
