1. Wallpaper Apps
Who doesn’t love wallpaper apps? They allow us to unleash our creativity and find new designs that keep our phone’s background bright and cheerful, or thoughtful and inspiring. These apps offer high-resolution images and live (animated) wallpapers, both of which are large in file size and take up storage space on our phones. They could also be running background processes and automatically downloading new wallpapers — consider them the apps that never sleep — and this, as well, is taxing to your phone. If they also happen to put out lots of ads and boast tons of “app bloat” features, you can also add these components to the list of why these apps are slowing down your device. These apps are nice to have, but are they necessary if they’re costing you speed?
2. Weather Apps
Your iPhone already comes equipped with one weather app, but let’s say you’ve branched out and found more sophisticated versions of the app that you like more — this is all well and good, but keep in mind that weather apps consume space and can slow your phone down. In order to operate well, these apps have to consistently fetch data from online servers to provide you with up-to-date weather information. They may feature high-resolution photos and maps, live backgrounds, and will need access to your locations. All of these components are taxing on your phone.
3. Video Editing Apps
Your iPhone has only evolved to become a better, more sophisticated and advanced photo taker over the years. There are numerous tools within your camera app that can help you take a gorgeous photo — which has made video editing apps somewhat less important than they were just a few years ago.
Video editing apps can be great fun, and they can really make a big difference in your photo quality. But they come at a cost — they consume storage and data. If you can’t avoid using a video editing app, try only using one and not downloading a bunch of them to help conserve your storage space and keep your phone working efficiently.
