We all know that Starbucks is an indulgence. It’s definitely more pricey than making your own coffee at home, and most of its more popular drinks are higher in calories and sugars than we would like to believe. That being said, there is nothing wrong with treating yourself to a midday pick-me-up from Starbucks every so often. Even still, there are some drinks that you should try to avoid because they outrank others in terms of unhealthiness. And unfortunately, one of those drinks is everyone’s favorite: the pumpkin spice latte.

We all know that the pumpkin spice latte is a seasonal take of the classic latte, improved with pumpkin and cinnamon flavors that remind us of fall. The ingredients that actually go into the PSL are the signature sumpkin spice sauce, whipped cream, vanilla syrup, and pumpkin spice topping, and these are unfortunately high in the sugar department.

In fact, a medium-sized pumpkin spice latte from Starbucks has 50 grams of sugar in it. That's almost twice your daily recommended sugar intake. Which means that the PSL is really, really bad for you.

Eating too much sugar can increase your risk of diseases including high blood pressure, diabetes and heart disease. Not just this, sugar causes weight gain and inflammation.

Next time you want to indulge in the flavors of fall, we suggest you order a regular coffee and flavor it with cinnamon for a muchn healthier drink.
